COMING SOON: FOUR YEARS

This book is still in the first stages.
It details four years of my life, what I saw and learned from 2006 - 2010.
- The names have been changed so that the guilty parties may continue to wallow in their pit of evil and corruption only slightly unnoticed. Any similarities between the characters and real persons may entitle you to a hearty, "Congratulations!"
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this project is two-fold. First of all it is for my own therapeutic purposes. People feel better about situations and frustrations when they put them down in print.
The second purpose is probably more important than the first. Corruption is in every aspect of government. When most people think of corruption in government they always think of it on the federal level. They never think about what is happening in their own back yard. They trust their local municipal officials with the tasks that are bestowed upon them. Why wouldn't they? Their children go to the same schools. They go to the same churches. They pump their gas from the same nozzles. We live with these folks. We are of them and they are of us. The reality is that corruption takes all forms and one of the forms most prevalent in small rural America is what has become known as "The Good 'Ol Boy Network." I heard about the GOBN in 2006 and I thought it was ridiculous. That it couldn't exist. But then I experienced first hand knowledge of a deputy sheriff assigned to a narcotics task force who, while parked alongside a county back road, forced an informant to engage in a particular sexual activity with him under the threat of making the rest of her life miserable.
Under the advise and support of the current mayor at the time, I blew the whistle - not knowing that the victim had already blown the whistle. To make a long story short the victim was threatened by the mistress of the deputy and the charges were dropped. Not before a cover-up was already initiated that even included the investigator assigned from the highway patrol.
I then saw how our prosecutor abused his powers for personal satisfaction. I saw how on local levels certain people considered themselves to be above the law and in fact were for the most part.
Do you think your town doesn't have corruption at the helm? It might not - but most likely it does. Corruption thrives abundantly across the wheat-fields and ponds of America. I hope this book will make you think about what could be going on in your very own community.
Excerpt:
I do not want this book to turn into my autobiography. My life is more complicated then that. It is not fair to you, the reader, to learn about the events that have taken place in the last few years of my life if you do not have at least a basic understanding of who...or what I am and what I am about.
I have always been proud of my heritage. I come from a good line of preachers, pastors, and ministers of the gospel. It had always been my desire to continue that line but I always felt that to do so would not be in accordance with God's will. At least in being a preacher or pastor. I have always felt that every Christian should be a minister.
